[/caption] there are too many crimes lately. following the (SM) mall shooting incidents the previous weeks, other crimes that made it to the top stories of prime time newscasts are alarmingly growing:
- hostage-taking in a bank in Cavite
- assassination of a high-ranking school official in PUP
- massacre in Laguna
- the rape and killing of a 19-year-old UPLB student
other crimes were even committed by minors so the senators want age of criminal liability returned to 9 yrs. old.
with all these crimes being committed (and petty crimes happening everyday), it leads us to ask once again, "Should death penalty be brought back?"
--------------
i was disturbed by the amateur video of the SM mall shooting incident in Pampanga which happened last month. in the amateur video posted online, one of the victims was still moving as police and security personnel from the mall just walked around them. the (almost) 3-minuter video showed no signs of help from the authorities and yes, some people managed to document it on video. the video even caught one person taking photo of the scene.
in an interview with the PNP Chief, he said the authorities handled the incident properly and that only one side of the (cut) video was shown. on the latter part, he added, it was the same authorities (as seen on the amateur video) who took the victims away and brought them to the hospital.

the plEaZure is yours!
i've been in the contraceptive distribution business for over five years now and i'm the only pioneer employee left in the company (so i hope i get some loyalty incentives when i leave the company for any reasons). being in this business, many think that i get to consume all our products that are ok for male consumption (obviously, pills aren't to be taken by men). so people think i get to enjoy "testing" all our condom lines starting from the most common variant (natural, strawberry, chocolate - scented ones) up to the most "creative" ones (dotted, ultra thin, with real flavor, and even that piece that comes with a vibrator). well, not really. you'll even be surprised that some (girl) officemates are still naive in talking about the subject matter (those pertaining to love-making and other "adult" content - conversations).
among our products, i regularly patronize only one: EZ Lubricating Jelly. before, i wondered if i'll ever need a lubricant when i engage in love-making. later on, lubricants have been known to give you extra pleasure during love-making. lubricants do have their particular uses but using it for (added) pleasure is FTW! now, we are coming up with a new variant--- EZ Lubricating Jelly Icy Mint! take a peek of it here. this new product which will soon hit the market shall also make a BIG hit among its users. speaking of which, i now end this blog post...

series of unfortunate events >:(
yesterday was not one of those friday the 13th urban legends but all misfortunes must have come to me that day! and to think, i was anticipating that February 27th 2009 will be the lightest cut-off day in terms of work load. well, so much for "the lightest cut-off day" . . .
first, i was rushing in the office to run an errand for the convention, and at the same time get the overdue additional mobile unit for the company at the mobile network company where i used to work. fine with me since the convention place and the business center of the mobile company is just under one building. i borrowed one of the company cars in which the key was handed over to me. after moving a few feet away from where it's parked, i felt something. it's either the flooring was bad or one of the tires was flat. it's the latter! and wow, upon seeing it, i just couldn't believe the car was "taken care of" that way by one area manager. (it was surrendered to the office actually yesterday as the person i'm referring to has resigned and was interviewed by our Admin also yesterday). well, if that really is taking care of office properties. so i just grabbed my van key and used my personal vehicle going to Holiday Inn. good thing, kuya Jun was there to take care of the car i left at the parking area and just told him to take the keys back to our admin office.
i was glad to meet two of my colleagues on the registration table and waited for the perfect timing to approach the GM to have the papers signed (as they need to be signed). i've waited. waited. and waited. i decided to drop by the mobile company business center first and get the mobile unit but surprise! what was promised to be released last Thursday wasn't (still) available by Friday! so i left the business center and promised myself not to transact business with that mobile company again.
lunch time came (and i'm beginning to get hungry), i got the chance to talk to our GM and presented the documents that needed to be signed. after asking me a few queries about the payment of the orders, no documents were signed! i was told to wait for the deposit slips in order to process the transactions. wow. i wanted the orders to be processed early but to no avail. oh well. what am i supposed to do anyway? so i decided to go back to the office. and besides, my packed lunch was waiting for me in the office pantry.
before going back to the parking area, i decided to use the washroom of the hotel. yes, not the mall but the hotel! (ok, here comes the R-18 part... if you are below the legal age and may find the following post offensive, kindly skip to the next paragraph) i was alone in the washroom when i entered and decided to use the middle (of five) urinals. an old man entered and weird as it may seem, he used the second urinal on my left. my eye sight on the side tells me the old man was staring at me. freaky, i thought, so i leaned over closer to the urinal and slightly face towards my right. i finished urinating and zipped my pants, headed to the sink and washed my hand. the old man followed. my side vision again told me he was smiling at me. i had goosebumps but i still didn't mind him. at the same time, i was trying to recall if he's one of those distributors from the province whom i have met during the first day of convention but i'm pretty sure they won't be acting that way. when i was about to leave, he reached out and pinched my stomach. only then did i ask, "yes?" the old man just smiled and murmured a few words i didn't understand and then gesturing at my front. i moved away his hand from me and hurriedly walked out of the washroom. stupid dirty old man! he freaked me out.
so i hurriedly went down to the parking area and rode my van to get back to the office. its way past my lunch time. after a couple of clicks, the van wouldn't start! after a few more tries, i was starting to sweat but still it didn't wanna start so it left me no choice but to take the bus back to the office. i told myself i'll be attending to the van after i get done with my office work, which at that time was piling up! i needed to walk over the footbridge in Citibank under the fierce heat of the sun and walk as fast as i can. upon reaching our building, i was somehow relieved but when i was about to press the elevator button, it was temporary closed for maintenance! so i had to take the stairs up to the fourth floor! wow.
i immediately unpacked my lunch and decided to ask our new utility boy to buy me a small bottle of PEPSI (500mL yata yun) to somehow relieve all the stress i got the whole morning. i instructed him what to buy, where to buy and how much it costs. when he came back from the store, he was bringing a 1.5-Liter bottle and the brand says: COKE! nagkautang pa ko sa kanya ng 7 pesos dahil nag-abono sya! "what the heck is happening this day," i asked myself. my officemates were entertained by my misfortunes as i told them one by one what has happened to me since i encountered that flat tire!
my Friday consolation was courtesy of brother-in-law jayson, he took care of the van and brought it safely to our place. so i need not worry about it anymore. good thing because i later on realized that i wasn't able to leave the office early as planned to attend to the van--- i left the office at almost 8PM!
misfortunes ended when i got home to my wifey. she always make my life happy! and speaking of being with wifey, i need to take a shower now coz we'll be having a date at Bonifacio High Street! ciao! ;)

The Unending Debate: House Bill 5043
I've been amused lately about how people are so much into the debate going on in the (Philippines) House of Representatives, discussing about the Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008. Principally authored by Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, the bill basically aims to promote information on the mode of family planning the couple wants to adopt based on their needs, personal convictions and religious beliefs. People opposing the bill, on the other hand, points out that HB 5043 will not serve its purpose (population control) and instead suggest a "morally incorrect" society.
There are some major points that may lead to separate topics to debate upon:
- Philippine population and its relation with the economy
- When is life formed in a woman's womb
- When should a child be informed about sex education and who is in the position to discuss it to him

honeymoon-ing
i'm literally sleepy at this time and even two cups of coffee can't help myself to wake my senses and finish the tasks i'm supposed to get done by end of business today. so i decided to make this quick post to somehow deviate my mind into thinking.
my YM chat window popped a while ago and the message was from a college friend in invisible mode. i wasn't able to catch our conversation but it was going around the subject "honeymoon" i was surprised with his first message (add the fact that he wasn't in my visible friends list) that said: "masarap ba?" thinking that it was about the "sex" thing he was inquiring as he knew i got married a week ago, i candidly replied "oo naman! lalo na yung Buko Juice, hahaha!" then i thought it was just a candid exchange of how-are-you's-after-the-wedding but he was seriously inquiring about how a honeymoon should go and when does the sex thing comes in. i asked him "seryoso ka?? he replied "oo naman. first time ko eh... di ko first time makipag-sex pero first time kong ikasal." i laughed and surely it woke me up a while ago so i replied "ako rin first time kong ikasal. LOL." but immediately i followed it up with a more serious reply: "alam mo, hindi naman puro sex lang ang honeymoon. it's your time to do things together other than that... relax, eat together, enjoy each others company, talk about your future together, explore the place together where you held your honeymoon, then sex will just come spontaneously. hindi sya pinag-uusapan." my friend was typing a reply but held it. so i typed a reply again saying, "yung sex basta na lang yan darating kung kailan ninyo feel... sa banyo, sa kusina, sa sala.. pero wag naman sa mcdo! hahaha." then he replied, "so naranasan mo na lahat gawin yun sa mga lugar na sinabi mo?" i said, "hindi ah. conservative ako eh. so far, hanggang sa dining table pa lang. LOL!" he said he was just concerned about his wife she might think he's a maniac when he asks for "it" on their first night. i said there's no problem with that as long as you both agreed on it. but i told him they'll be exhausted on their first night since they will be coming from (almost) a day's preparation for their wedding, and the ceremonies itself. so i told him the next night should be the "fighting night" lol. ok, i'm not an expert on this. it's my first time too! hahahaha!

Ang Kulturang Pilipino at Ang Bahay Ni Kuya
"No TV. No radio. No newspapers. No telephones. No internet! Totally no communication with the outside world..." - (Pinoy) Big Brother House Rules

banning condom ads and educating the youth
last week, a news story not-so-generally-interesting caught the attention of our company--- banning of the Frenzy Condom TV Ad. this motion was suggested by the Family Media Advocacy Foundation:
(full story here.)
It actually concerns our principal, DKT Philippines but unfortunately at the time the issue went out, DKT Philippines personnel were on a conference in Thailand and no one will be able to answer the concern for their side until they come back to office on January 23, Wednesday. Unexpectedly that day, January 22, i have answered an office phone call from GMA reporter Julius Segovia. He was inquiring on who can be interviewed regarding the issue but i politely informed him that it should be our principal who must tackle the issue. and that they were on a conference outside the country and will be able to answer only upon their return to Manila. with this situation ABS CBN sensationally gave its news readers the impression that DKT is escaping the responsibility of airing their side against the topic:
(link given above)"
call it unbiased journalism. (pun intended.)
The next day, the CBCP was encouraging the senate & congress to pass a bill on banning the use of artificial contraceptives, and even IDS-Free Philippines, Inc., Human Life International (HLI), and Family Media Advocacy Foundation (FAMAF) president Butch Canoy earlier complained to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas that the TV ad of DKT was irresponsible. (full story here.)
My personal take on the issue, while the Philippines is culturally conservative, it's high time that we educate the people, especially the young ones, about responsible sexual intercourse. sex education must not be restrained from informing the young students of how the sperm cell and the egg cell meet and create a new life, but it must extend to the responsibilities that the sexual intercourse bring. i often complained and believe that overpopulation is one of the major reasons of poverty in the country. too many mouths to feed, too limited basic needs: food, home, shelter, and we can add employment in the list. we maintain morality by condemning abortion but for as long as the means of contraception doesn't induce or suggest it, let the government find ways to help its people practice effective family planning. condom doesn't abort babies. as for the morality issue, here comes the role of the family and the church to educate the young ones according to their beliefs. we can not dictate anyone on what to do with their lives. it's always the individuals choice. what the family and church can do is to suggest to them the pros and present the cons of things then encourage them according to their moral beliefs. but that's it. even how big time a parent rants he/she can only do so much for their kids. thats why education is very important at a young age. and removing these TV Ads will not help reduce teenage pregnancy, irresponsible sex, and might even contribute to the spread of sexually-transmitted diseases in the country for the lack of information, guidance and choice among the people, especially the young ones.

World AIDS Day, Family Planning, At Sex Education

18 minutes and i'm outta here!
it's been a busy day for me today and i've tried hard to at least get done with my two sets of store breakdown report for Watsons. Downloading their store details really eats up time and the intermittent connection of our PLDT DSL adds up to the delay in the process. sheesh. talk about speedy internet service.
anyway, ayah's not feeling well today (first day of the monthly girl thing) and i'm feeling sorry for her. makes you think how brave the ladies are in facing that cycle every month, plus the mood-swings really hit them hard. well, i regularly become her "shock absorber" so i really need to be patient during those times. good thing i'm a guy. i don't have to suffer that monthly period and i can't imagine changing napkins every i-don't-know-when.
aarrghh... i wanna go home and curl up in the couch. it's getting to be rainy these past few days and it's nice to do one of my favorite hobbies--- sleeping! our office air condition unit gives out cold air at 24 degrees centigrade! wow. i can start wearing my long sleeves polo again in the next few weeks. hmm... woah, speaking of rainy days and cool weather, i am now recalling the Old Navy gray sweat shirt which i had (and used to be my favorite when i was in Mississauga). I actually remember bringing it with me when i came back here in Manila and suddenly, when our thief helper left us some time in 2005, she brought it with her. grrr...
i have to pack-up. i'm hungry.
P.S. i won a dvd from a promo in PinoyExchange.com and i still don't know when i could drop by Ayala to pick it up. howell...

i felt violated
JUNE 12, 2006 - Happy 108th Independence Day Anniversary, people of the Philippines!
Since i discovered Jim Paredes' blog, i've been reading his thoughts regarding immigrating to Australia. He once believed and hold on to hoping that a better Philippines will be realized in the near future. but that hope remains still, until he and his family decided its time to move on somewhere. but yes, he did it for his kids. a wise decision i should say, since this country (at least based on what's currently happening) seems to fulfill nothing for its people but only gives what it's (supposedly) "public officials" want. i can't seem to understand politics in this country. people in the government seem not to know when enough should be enough. even the reality that its people are continously migrating everywhere in the world, they just don't care. and a recent conversation with colleagues confirmed an analysis of a former cabinet member regarding the income coming from remittances of OFW's: where these remittances are going... and gone! In Canada, people pay higher taxes but you see where these taxes are going--- health and kids education. it's not the same here. you pay, and next thing you know, you're wondering where your tax payment went. so, then again i'd ask, "Are we really that happy with our independence?"

still yesterday, i asked my gurL to accompany me to the supermarket as i replenished our household needs supplies (hehehe...) so we went to the old sta. lucia east mall and did my grocery thing there. before going to the supermarket, i withdrew around 1.5K but in the end, resorted to paying via my ATM card which is VISA Electron-accessible. good thing cause my items reached over 2K. whoah! see how expensive the cost of living is today? and those items are mostly laundry products, and kitchen (food) items only. i only managed to buy a few things for my personal use and abstained from buying those food i crave for when watching TV at home. oh well... c'est la vie.

i felt violated last saturday (WARNING: adult content, not suitable for minors)
here's the story. my gurL and i was rushing to get home, as we rode a bus going to Cubao where we shall get an FX ride to our place. my mom left her keys inside the house and she called me and told me to go home right away as she can not come in our house. while on the way, my gurL felt she had to pee and was asking me to get off at the nearest gasoline station where there could be a restroom. since we were already in Santolan then, i told her we could get off at Cubao already since it will be just minutes away. the bus had to stop due to traffic in EDSA corner P. Tuazon so we got off at a gasoline station in the corner (Sea Oil i think) but their restrooms are closed. so we walked going to Araneta Center and assured her that Tropical Hut store is just a few walks away. We reached Tropical located by Farmers Market, and she immediately went upstairs to the restroom, which was closed for dining in customers considering the number of customers dining in that time of the night (it's around past seven). i waited for her at a table downstairs and when she was done, she told me she hurried because she was afraid upstairs coz it was dark. i just smiled at her and excused myself cuz i said i have to go to the restroom before we ride the FX. so it was her turn to wait for me with our things downstairs. i went upstairs, looked for the men's room and entered... i usually use the urinal when i pee in public restrooms. i only use the cubicle when there are long lines inside cuz i'm not comfortable when there are people waiting for me to get done. so, i used the urinal this time since there were only two people inside, one was using the cubicle and the other was washing his face in the sink, facing the mirror. while i was doing my thing, i felt different with the actions going on behind me. i slightly took a side glance at the two people behind me and to my great surprise, the other guy (who was washing his face in the sink) was touching the other guy's thing. right then and there, i had goosebumps all over my body. i hurriedly finished what i was doing and zipped my pants, and as i turned around, i took a quick look at them. the other guy was busy doing what he started doing with the other guy (who came out from the cubicle), and the latter was giving me a good grin while his thing was being touched by the other guy. simply disgusting! i was terrified and hurriedly went out of the restroom, went downstairs and told my gurL to hurry up and we left the place. geez... it's just when we were in the FX that i thought of informing the store manager to do inspections in their store and know what's happening around every corner of it.
anyway, my point is, some people are really disgusting. i just considered them sick. they could have at least used the cubicle and not do it in the open. it's simply... disgusting.

As i am posting this, my mom is downstairs with our helper. They are discussing a thing that is pretty hard to talk about--- honesty.
With honesty, trust is built. Trust is like a building. It's foundation must be SOLID. Once it is shook, the crack it leaves will be marked forever. It's unblemished image will not be the same again.
Trust is not asked for--- it is earned. I don't know if it is hard to earn the trust of someone but i believe that people who earned the trust of their fellowmen should try his/her very best to keep it forever. Trust is one very important value a person can earn. Anyone is just not blessed of getting it but anyone can be capable of earning it. It's just a matter of right attitude and how you value other people.

the wonders of sex
WARNING: The following images may be offending to others. If you find sexual graphics offending, it is advised to skip this entry or just leave this page.
My sister brought home some Kama Sutra postcards (I wonder if my usage of the term Kama Sutra is correct). They were lent to my sister by her Indian officemate and she told her to take a look at them with her husband (my brother-in-law).
Having insufficient knowledge about Kama Sutra, i was made to believe that it is all about love and different sexual positions. I'm too lazy to expand my knowledge about this matter, but i found the postcards amusing.
Here are three (out of twelve) of the postcards which were lent to my sister:

so...? care to know more?
