he's 60!

it's been two weeks since Ayah & i purchased this KODAK EASYSHARE C533 at PhP9,800.00 Ayah & i considered it a good buy. why? because the camera comes with a printer and unlike in electronic shops in the malls, the same model can be purchased separately from its printer and their price doubles. so, we got a good deal buy purchasing the camera and printer together at a price of the (solo) camera. the package also includes a rechargeable pair of double A batteries and of course the USB cables and adaptors needed for its full operation.




and of course, what are we to do if we just have a new digital camera? well, needless to say, let the photos speak for itself:

lunch date with dad & mom a while ago. we dined in at House Of Minis along C-5 Road and had a plate each of steak, except for ayah who had deep fried bangus (um... yum yum)! it's been very seldom that we have this get-together from all the personal, professional, and other schedules we each have so every minute is treasured. my dad's 60 and he doesn't look like one:

last saturday should be one of my most treasured saturdays of the year. ayah and i treaded the road up to Antipolo going to Morong, Rizal to have a dental check-up for ayah. we waited for Doc Denise at her home-clinic, just beside the INC locale of Morong. after examining ayah's teeth structure and telling us what needed to be done on the succeeding appointments, we headed back up the way to Antipolo and couldn't help but notice the poor condition of the mountains in the area:





seriously, construction of subdivisions/housing, resorts, and other establishments on top or on the mountain is really saddening. not that i am against the "development" of the towns but simply destroying nature for the interest of a few is just uncalled for. we may build a thousand houses, thousand roads, hundreds of resorts, hundreds of company warehouses or factories, but we can never construct one mountain that we have destroyed, nor replicate one in its original "structure". then people will complain about flooding and landslides come typhoon season.

anyway, on another event that happened last Saturday, as i have mentioned, this should be one Saturday that i'll cherish in my life. it's the first time Ayah & i went to the best sunset place in Metro Manila--- Roxas Boulevard. After rounding the Bridal Expo in PICC, canvassing some good deals in the event, and gathering many brochures and leaflets that each booth handed to us, Ayah & i were excited to witness the sunset and take a few souvenir photos along the sunset view. but since we got out of the Bridal Expo a little early before sunset, we decided to drive away the heat of the afternoon my engaging ourselves in a delightful treat at icebergs. Then we walked a few blocks going to sunset view. i can tell that i'm excited. last time i set my foot along the bay view waiting for the sunset was like, almost a decade ago when we were shooting scenes for our college telesine project. that project, not to mention the group, will forever be remembered in my life. the said telesine garnered us a lot of awards in our college 4th Annual Mass Comm. Awards, mostly on the technical aspect. not only does the sunset view brings back memories of my college life but it's also a perfect spot for couples to take a break from their everyday businesses and cherish quality time together conversing about life together and some other things. while the light rays of the sun setting on the west reflect good on the bay, and gives a pale yellow color to the tall buildings surrounding the bay area. it's simply... relaxing and refreshing. - fin -

10 Truths, 5 Lies (par deux)

recalling the first time i did this, i'm planning to make a new set of 10 truths, 5 lies about me. But first, i'd like to strike out the 5 Lies that were previously given, and the truth behind it's "story":

1.) I was given priority interview schedule over other AM radio stations by former president Joseph Estrada's spokesman Atty. Jerry Barrican after the latter got so furious with news reporters calling his number for endless interviews as early as 5AM.

2.) I got a media pass to ride the very first "test ride" of the Metro Rail Transit in EDSA. i was only able to enter the MRT premises after the test ride offered by the MRT management. loser.

3.) I was assigned as a beat reporter in Malacanang.

4.) I've had my first ever girl friend when I was 19. this is true. late bloomer eh. lol. seriously, i only had M.U. when i was younger, never into a serious commitment. :p

5.) I have performed in a boyband in a University and was compensated for the performance.

6.) I have met Vehnee Saturno in person and was given a voicing tip.

7.) I have appeared in a TV commercial.

8.) I love sleeping in my bed. i prefer sleeping on our living room couch

9.) I prefer drinking coffee in Starbucks over Seattle's Best. while my most preferred coffee shop is Figaro, i prefer the brewed coffee and 'surroundings' of Seattles Best against Starbucks. must be those social climbers in Starbucks. i'm not generalizing though. it just so happen that most of the people are in Starbucks.

10.) I've had a news article published in a daily paper.

11.) I've had a feature story published in a monthly magazine.

12.) I've been to Hongkong when I was in college.

13.) My all-time basketball (PBA) idol is Robert Jaworski. as mentioned in my xanga comment, my all-time favorite PBA cager is the "Skywalker" himself, Mr. Avelino "Samboy" Lim Jr.

14.) I've failed an entrance exam in Mapua Institute of Technology. i've actually passed the entrance exam i took in Mapua for a Chemical Engineering course. but i preferred studying in UST with the idea that it's more cool to be identified as a Tomasian. Plus, i don't have to worry about the everyday clothes i'm gonna wear in Mapua. UST requires uniforms. :P

15.) I was offered an acting job for a Star Cinema movie.

now, tell me if you still want me to elaborate on the true items but most of them are as stated, anyway.

now, for the new set of trivia (10 Truths, 5 are Lies) wild guesses (which among the 15 statements are lies) are welcome:

Stainless Longganisa

While chatting with friend Mariel this morning, she was glad to inform me that Bob Ong has recently released his newest offing: Stainless Longganisa. Being a Bob Ong fan, after reading & loving his earlier-released publications, friend Mariel knew i was going to be excited. and yes i am! in fact, i'm going to ask Ayah to come with me to the bookstore and purchase a copy. i'm also planning to re-purchase my favorite Bob Ong book, Bakit baligtad Magbasa Ng Libro Ang Mga Pilipino? while the 2nd book that i loved, A B N K K B S N P L Ako is currently not in my possession. nasa hiraman-wala-nang-balikan status, just like the yellow book. i only have with me at home the third book, Ang Paboritong Libro Ni Hudas. hmm.. i wonder if i need to invest on books. if ever i will, most of my collections would be Filipino publications. And Bob Ong's works will be on the top list.

pasukan na naman

noong ako'y nag-aaral pa, masaya ako pag simula ng pasukan. pag simula lang. ito ay sa kadahilanang magkikita-kita muli kayo ng kaibigan pagkatapos ang dalawang buwan ng pagbabakasyon, at aabangan kung sino ang magiging mga bagong kaklase, mga bagong crushes at pagpapa-cute-an, mga maestrang makakasama sa isang buong taon o isang semestre, at syempre, ang mga bagong asignaturang pag-aaralan na magdaragdag sa aking kaalaman.

sa mga nagtatrabaho na tulad ko ngayon, isa lang ang reaksyon kapag ganitong simula ng klase ng mga estudyante: "haayyy... trapik na naman."

kada taon, pamahal nang pamahal ang tuition fee. kung iisipin ko, naku, kung ako na ang magpa-paaral, magkano na kaya ang matrikula kada taon? dagdag pa rito ang mas magastos na allowance ng isang estudyante. at syemppre, bukod sa mga gamit sa paaralan, nariyan din ang mga school projects. kung iisipin lang mabuti ng isang mag-aaral ang mga ito, marahil ay bibigyan niya ng ibayong halaga ang pag-aaral nang mabuti. hindi naman tinatae lang nga mga nagpapaaral sa kanila ang pera na ginugugol sa pag-aaral ng isang estudyante. tapos nakakalungkot, ang ibang mga bata, nagbubulakbol pa sa pag-aaral. inuuna ang barkada, panliligaw at pagdi-date, pagdoDOTA, pagmo-mall, panonood ng sine at cutting classes. hindi naman masamang maglibang. sana lang, maging responsable rin ang mga estudyante sa pagtugon sa pananagutan nila bilang mag-aaral: mag-aral nang mabuti at makapagtapos nang maayos. ito naman ay hindi para sa mga magulang kundi para rin sa magandang kinabukasan nung nag-aaral.

June 1st 2007

While today is already the 2nd day of June, I'd like to note the occasion yesterday (June 1st) I am with the birthday girl from 11:20am until everybody called it a day. she is kind enough to accompany me in PEx office to finally claim my won DVD. after getting off from the bus in front of Rustans, we crossed the street via the underpass (yep, meron nang underpass malapit sa G4 sa may Ayala Av. last time nagpunta akong Makati, wala pa yun) and strolled inside G4. we looked for a good place to have our lunch but eventually, we ended up calling jawee v. (jary) and asking her if we could have lunch together. she obliged and ayah & i found ourselves walking the sidewalks again but this time going to Paseo, Philam building to be exact. So we met up with jary inside Delifrance. Since jary already took her lunch earlier, she just sat with us while we eat our orders, she gave us her bday gifts (thanks sis) and opened up a little dilemma of hers. after the meeting, we parted ways as jary still needed to go back to work while ayah & i would have to walk another few blocks to the PEx office. after stepping out of delifrance, ayah saw our speeding van turning from paseo de roxas to ayala avenue, on the direction where both of us were heading. "your mom! your mom!" "huh?" i replied. "Your van, i saw it, it went that way!" "oh, it was my dad driving." we called my dad's mobile and informed him we were just in the vicinity where he is. but since he still has to go somewhere, we decided to just meet up at home later.

upon entering ayala life building, we skipped going to the reception area and proceeded to the lifts without having those visitors id hanging in our shirts, i texted Ada informing her we're waiting for the lift already going up. so ayah headed to the doors, knocked and was greeted by friendly PEx staff. finally she and Ada met, including jenn who was in the office that time. after choosing which DVD to take home, we discussed a few personal matter just right ouside the office door and then bidded goodbyes.

ayah and i decided to get some stuffs in Robinsons Galleria so we took the bus passing by Ortigas-Ilalim. we dropped by EPCI Bank, ate halo-halo at Razons @ the foodcourt, purchased the June edition of FHM Philippines, then get a couple of sponges at the supermarket. I really didn't have the intention to purchase the FHM mag since i can have a free copy of it courtesy of our Premiere products, but i was eager to see if the photo i submitted was published in their June issue. it could have been a nice gift to ayah but then it wasn't. aww.. surprise is spoiled :(

ayah and i were able to get home at our respective houses at around six in the evening but before i went straight home, i had my haircut. then after a quick shower, i asked my dad & mom to proceed to ayah's place where we would be celebrating her birthday and the other important occasion.

ayah and i were a bit nervous but the night went out smoothly and the conversation between her and my parents was much ok. now everything has been formalized. and we're now looking forward to that next event.

wow. this is for real.
