just another manic monday

ang aga-aga, naalala ko yung nabanggit sa akin ng isang ka-opisina nung Sabado. may tao kaseng ma-epal sa opisina na hindi ko maintindihan kung ano ang big deal sa ginagawa ng mga tao sa harapan niya at kailangang mag-ulat sa pangasiwaan ng tanggapan. hayy... naku. ang hirap talaga ng kung anu-ano ang pinakikialaman sa paligid. hindi na lang kase manahimik at atupagin ang sariling trabaho.

hindi pumasok si ayah. syempre na-miss ko sya. walang cute na babaeng nagsusumbong kapag inaapi sya sa opisina nila, walang nang-aasar sa akin at nangmamaltrato, wala akong kasamang bumili ng pagkain kay ate, wala akong kasabay sa byahe :(
pero ok lang. "lahat ng bagay ay may kaukulan." at yung ginawa nya kanina ay para sa kaniya ring ikasusulong. at nagkita naman kami after office.

ang mahal na ng krudo (diesel po sa mas pamilyar na termino). huhuhu... gusto kong maglupasay sa istasyon ng Caltex kaninang umaga. biro mo, sa tatlong daang piso kong salapi, ni hindi man lang umabot ng 9 na litro yung naikarga sa sasakyan ko? at pagdating sa opisina, kinailangan ko pang dalhin ang sasakyan ko sa malapit na pagawaan para ipaayos ang power steering. gastos na naman. pero kung hindi ko naman ito pinaayos kanina, mas lalaki pa ang gastusin kapag lumala ang sira. kinailangang i-fabricate yung hose ng power steering. kase pagkalagay ng fluid, mga ilang araw lang, pawis-steering na naman ang manibela ko. :(

thanking the LORD

...on the occasion of the Church's 93rd anniversary in the Philippines, i am one of the million brethren all over the world who takes part in the thanksgiving of the Church Of Christ, for all of God's wonderful blessings and guidance to His nation.
looking back at the church's humble beginnings, an observer can not deny that this church has gone a long way, considering that it has undergone (and still undergoing) great persecutions. it continues to grow from a locale in Punta, Sta. Ana, it has now spread all over the world--- a feat that no man can achieve by himself. with this, it is our firm belief that it is God Who is holding on to His promise, a promise to His messenger in these last days and to His work of salvation:

"I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, 'you are my servant';
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

miscellaneous

i've been busy with work the past few days and all i can do is browse the net and not able to post updates. but now, i am taking a short break to have this thing updated. since my post last Friday, some highlight stories include the following:

> Thanksgiving worship concluded for the church's 93rd anniversary in the Philippines.

> got to wear my three new barong tagalog on three different days of course. cloth was purchased in Divisoria and tailoring was courtesy of Papa Deng, ayahs grandpa.

> witnessed an electric post struck by lightning last Saturday during a heavy downpour while we were filling up at a gasoline station in our place. then brownout followed which lasted for almost five hours.

> short chat with former child actor Hugo Orfinada (screen name: Hugo Linsangan), who is a neighbor of ours for over 15 years already. i finally confirmed that he is already a father of two (going three) and i (finally) met his wife. this chat happened when the heavy rain stopped, ayah and i decided to take a walk in the neighborhood to get some snacks, then Hugo and his family (yes, with preggy wife and two kids) were also out for a walk to the nearby store. TRIVIA: Hugo played the role of "Joey" the blind child in the former afternoon ABS-CBN-produced soap opera, Annaluna.

> new (home) desktop! this is the MAIN highlight for my weekend, although i am waiting for the better thing to come in relation with this "main" highlight: DSL subscription. hmm... now blogging should be sweet at home again, during wee hours of the day. wow. looking forward to it.

movies

many people were comparing Transformers with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie. And among the many who saw both films, they were saying that the former is way better than the latter. i'd say it's all about expectations. Harry Potter movies are always overrated and it follows that people are expecting too much on the succeeding "books" (films). on the other hand, Transformers movie came in as a nice surprise for the audience, as a result, it was given a better review and feedback.

Speaking of movies, i'm looking forward to see the animated Ratatouille, a story of a rat who dreams of becoming a chef. This probably will be the next movie Ayah & i will see. Im also thinking if The SIMPSONS Movie will be worth the movie tickets. I used to be a huge fan of The Simpsons on boob tube when it gained popularity in the 90's on Philippine television. hmm... well, let's see. i need to spend my earnings wisely. lots of necessary spending ahead.

an unusual Monday

i dunno but i feel different today. one thing is, i was expecting another busy day but since our GM cut his hobby of email-ing us whenever he'll be out of the office for an OB, i was surprised to feel less pressure at work today after knowing that he's out of the country until tomorrow. yes, i still have backlog to get done with but my inner self isn't really motivated to finish it all up:

i feel a bit low this morning after validating ayah's desire to transfer work. i've expressed to her how i personally feel but at the same time didn't want to discourage her on her "career move". maybe it's high time for her to be into the real corporate world and experience being a career woman on her own. not that i am meddling with her professional life but the world 'out there' is really different when you're on your own. and of course as i've always believed in: "all things happen with a purpose."

last Saturday, Ayah & i, together with her cousins and aunt were at Gilmore scouting for personal computers. since i've never been very knowledgeable about computers, i'd want to know what specs are good enough to consider in purchasing a set. any help out there?

we also checked in an open house at Pioneer Pointe and while i drool over the bachelors and two-bedroom units, i can't do more than just drool. kelan kaya ako tatama sa pader?

noong wala pang naglalakihang mga malls, sino sa mga batang 80's na nakatira sa kalakhang Maynila, pangunahin na sa lunsod Quezon, ang 'di nakaaalam kung nasaan ang masayang pasyalan at palaruan na Fiesta Carnival? Sino ang hindi humanga sa tambayan ng tao, ang pamilihang pinasinayan ng sikat na boksingerong si Muhammad Ali, ang Ali Mall? At syempre, ang isa sa pinagmamalaking coliseum ng lunsod ay dito rin matatagpuan: ang Araneta Coliseum. sa pagkakaalam ko, dito unang kinandili ang sikat na ngayong laro ng bansa, ang Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). sa coliseum ding ito ako unang nakapanood ng mga laro ng UAAP, basketbol pa rin, laban ng dati kong paaralan, ang UST kontra Adamson. Sa Coliseum ding nabanggit idinaraos ang konsyerto ng ilang international artists, local celebrities at maging mga palabas tulad ng Disney's World On Ice at iba pa.

Isa sa pinakatampok na pasyalan sa Araneta Center ay ang kinagigiliwan at kinaugalian nang panoorin ng pamilyang Pilipino, ang animated christmas presentation sa harapan ng COD. taun-taon ay nagbabago ito ng kwento, kaya naman taun-taon din itong kinasasabikan ng pamilyang Pilipino--- bata, matanda, may ipin o wala... nakalulungkot lamang na ito ay hindi isinalba ng Araneta Center kapalit ng isang mas malaki at mas modernong mall, ang Gateway Mall.

Marami nang pagbabago ngayon sa Cubao. Ibang-iba na noon at ngayon. sa pagbabago, may maganda, meron din namang nawawala na dating nakapagbibigay ligaya sa yo. Simple lang ang kaligayahan ng mga tao noon. Ngayon, kung masasabi man nating mas umunlad ang mga bagay sa paligid natin, hindi mo pa rin maaalis sa sarili na balikan ang nakaraan--- na kung saan ang buhay ng tao ay tila walang gasinong salimuot, at madaling maapuhap ang kaligayahan.

this day started good... mom & i had this [very seldom] breakfast together at home. i was teasing her to fry the rice which was in the fridge for two days (just imagine how hard it is already) but she told me to just eat it at lunch. sensing that she needs a little "motivation" to prepare our breakfast, i started pulling out the rice from the fridge, put 'em in a plate and prepared the frying pan for use. then i asked my mom if we have butter cause i was intending to use it in exchange for cooking oil. oh well, i was successful in my plan of having mom attend to the cooking "needs" then i made the great excuse of having her cook our breakfast: "ang sakit ng tyan ko, pupu muna ko" gross as it may sounde but it was perfect. after i came out of the washroom, our breakfast was prepared :D

we decided to clean the house together after we eat, and before we go to our respective "schedules". but apparently, we weren't able to do it because our conversation (bonding moment) lasted for over an hour. wow. very seldom that it happens.

i fetched ayah afterwards and off we went to her dentist. around 1PM, we took our lunch together with ayah's mom at Tropical hut in Taytay and afterwards proceeded to our main activity for the day: DIVISORIA.

we got good buys (as usual): two pairs of shoes, two ladies bags, two rtw polo shirts, three very nicely colored-barong tela for me :)
ayah's mom treated us at greenwich pizza before we went home.

i went to jerik's birthday dinner at their place and it was my last activity for the day. i was exhausted. i was wet in rainfall. but the day is all good. i have spent quality time with my loved ones, and it counts the most. happy 07.07.07! goodnight!

may tawag nang tawag sa cell phone ko, hindi naman sumasagot. minsan kasagsagan ng trabaho sa maghapon, minsan dis-oras ng gabi. pakiusap lang, kung sino ka man na nang-iistorbo nang walang pinipiling oras, palakaibigan naman ako. magpakilala ka lang nang maayos at magpakatao. sa lahat ng ayoko, nakikipaghulaan sa telepono. wala akong panahon sa ganyan at hindi rin ako natutuwa. pag napuno ako, wala naman akong gagawing masama sa iyo. ibo-brodkast ko lang sa blog ko ang numero mo para kung may gustong makipag-textmate sa 'yo o kaya ay makaphone-pal ka, malaya silang makontak ka.

the "hibernation" week that was

It's Monday once again. One thing i hate about Mondays is our weekly meeting. Not that i regard it as unimportant (in fact i was the one who agreed with our GM that we should hold REGULAR weekly meetings in the office way back January 2006), but thinking of the time it eats up on a first workday of the week, I would think it will be best if they allow only ONE customer service person to attend the meeting and the other one (either me or my work partner Tintin) to be free from it and do the usual stuffs that we do. It will also be wiser to note that our land lines will not be left unanswered for the whole morning of every Monday, and urgent matters will be attended to earlier. anyway, most of the things being discussed in the meeting are sales-related and i think one CS in attendance will suffice to take notes of what is needed to be done on our department. (Tintin magcomment ka, agree or not??!!!)

i had a bad cold last week but lucky me, it didn't develop into a horrible cough. you know, the "thunderous" sound that is made when you have that really bad cough. water therapy helped and being obedient to my beh. yea, she nursed me when i was sick, monitored my liquid intake and looked after my worn clothes if it was already juicing in sweat. hehe..

another noteworthy thing which i've been itching to blog about was the crashing of my PC at home and in the office at the same time. i know we have lived our lives without the personal computers for the past nth years of our lives but it's all a different story nowadays. having without a computer (specially at work) is like riding a vehicle without gasoline. all you can do is to push in order for it to move somewhere. oh well, at least my office PC is back. and now i'm thinking if i'd get a brand new desktop for home use (as advised) or a laptop in replacement for the damaged hard disk that our home PC suffered. i've talked to the financiers and one is convinced that i'd get the wi-fi equipped laptop instead. woah!!! one of my wish list. hehehe...

speaking of crashed PC, it left me a load of backlog at work. not to mention, my files were duplicated and i have to update just one directory so as not to confuse myself on where to find the latest files i've been saving. and i need to back-up my files ASAP or before my PC crashes again and worst, my files get lost! woah, i'm the only one (i guess) who keeps old files (as early as 2005) in the office, aside from our sales director. so i must save my files.

one good thing that happened in the office last Friday was we hit our month revenue (place your estimates, kids!) for the first time this year. but then again, the more important thing for our principal was missed by point something percent--- Couple Year Protection (CYP).

still, we deserve a treat from the big bosses. lol.

Last Saturday, ayah & i had a great time together at Tiendesitas where we drafted an important list. we have recorded the list in the JETRO Planner that ivan gave me last holiday. very, very useful, thanks pal. :)
anyway, before we sat for a shared dinner at Tita Lynn's Flavored Suman, we visited the newly-opened The Fun Ranch beside Tiendesitas. The place was OK, and looks more fun if you're bringing kids with you. we were amused by the sight, the hanging bridge and the rounding train on the second level of the building. it should also be interesting inside the "space ball" amusement room where people (kids & adults) can play fireball against each other. i remembered playing the same thing in Toronto a couple of years back. :p the place also offers kiddie rides such as carousel and bump cars. i think they also offer reservation for parties.
after rounding the amusement place, we went back to Tiendesitas and did the list and before leaving the place, we did not forget to buy my favorite sweets, meringue courtesy of my one and only beh. :)

I was informing a friend, ederic, about The Fun Ranch but incidentally, he told me that he hasn't been to Tiendesitas as well. i was making the latter as reference in locating The Fun Ranch so i told him he must find the place (Tiendesitas) coz it's a good place for him and her girl to see and visit together. Ederic has been a recent addition to my online friends. he works as a writer at GMA Network and he's editor-in-chief of a Filipino e-zine, tinig dot com. I am planning to contribute an article in the said e-zine, i just wanna revive my passion for writing and one thing that is convincing me to contribute in there is it's Filipino "set-up". i once dreamt of writing in PDI's Youngblood but it never materialized. This time, i hope i can gather my thoughts, put it into writing and hopefully the editorial staff could publish my work online. Proudly Pinoy!
