Monday, we finally shopped for fall and winter clothes as wind chill continues to breeze in the province. Well, my mom was expecting me to purchase jackets, sweat shirts and those stuffs, but instead, i got myself neckties and coats for church. they're way too cheap to make a pass so i grabbed 5 coats and ten neckties. now i have coats to pair with my slack pants. all i need to have are fall & winter clothes. *teehee*

i have a total of 50 friends in my friendster list, most of them are PExers. some of them i can hardly recall as i add those who are giving their email addresses in the friendster thread in Small Talk. oh well... this thing is eating up my internet time. i swear not to register on myspace.com when friendster shuts down.. i have to give more importance to my emails and attend to more important matters.

My good buddies here asked me to accompany them in guarding the chapel at night. so i prepared before 7pm and got myself ready to tread outside and face the 6 degrees centigrade temperature. now i'm beginning to experience things. wala pa nga daw lamig yun eh. huwaaaat?!!
before we went to the chapel, we sipped a good ol' cup of Tim Horton's coffee and strolled in Best Buy. No, its not National Bookstore but it is an electronic/appliances warehouse where we daydream of buying the new flat TVs displayed in there. well, i think the three of us drooled in front of the monitors and the beautiful audio equipments that accompany each sets. Then off we go to the chapel.
After guarding for some hours, the two decided to take their midnight dinner at home, while i settled for my favorite drink during cold weather--- kofi. siyet! kofi adik na talaga ako!

Tuesday, i barely have enough sleep from last night. when Noriel & Charlie dropped me off from their house, i opened the PC (that was around 1AM today) and checked on my inbox(es).
Then something reminded me its Christianne's birthday. Paul confirmed it to me thru an SMS reply. And so I sent her a PM but her inbox was full so i just greeted her thru the message thingy in friendster. ambilis. isang taon na agad.

i logged in to YM coz i know jawee is there. i ONLY log in to YM to check who's on line then i would log out right away. i don't usually log in to YM unless i wanna chat with a specific person in my buddy list.

i also received the choir pictorial last Sunday thru email, courtesy of Roma. Ei sis, if you happen to read this, thanks for it. i was sending you a thank you email but the browser won't allow it. i wonder why. anyway, thanks pa rin. :)

another email i received was coming from someone claiming to be a bible student and was asking me about my POV on INC. i think he is a PExer since he talks about my posts in PEx. Anyway, i took time to reply to his email and inquiries and he is from the US.

last email i've done before i dozed off at 5AM was for mads. its been quite a long time since i've emailed her and i found out that she had emailed me last and i haven't replied. so i took time to make up for it.

upon laying down in bed, my eyes were shut in no time. i tried to wake up at 7 this morning to move the garbage outside since its collection day in our area. i'll be doing the laundry tomorrow and hope to catch some more sleep within the day.

a busy and exhausting day. woke up to thank the Lord for this wonderful day and its worship day! first time i didn't reinforce in senior A for the tagalog service and so i prepared well for my performance this morning. Noriel & Charlie joined us for lunch and in just a few minutes, we were heading back to church for our choir practice. Officers meeting followed right after our practice and pictorial of choir members marked the end of our church activities for the day. but still, the day isn't finished with that. sister nieves' twins held their birthday party after the meeting and we jumped into another dinner/gathering at ka ariel's abode, actually a thanksgiving dinner for their fruit in the recently held baptism. sort of a "welcome" for the newly baptized brethren. had a nice chat with a couple of KADIWAs present in the occasion. Charlie sang his heart out at the KTV. hehe... nice, brother! Friday night out with small circle of friends. they planned it out and hoping it will push through.

i'm tired.

Sibling Bonding
We were scheduled to go to a window shopping (clothes for fall & winter) but my brother-in-law badly needs to take a good sleep, so we didn't push through with it. After his midnight shift, he proceeded to the choir practice of Senior C as sister Regel can't perform on Wednesday night. So he has to be the one present in Senior C's practice.

oh well. i did some household chores and slept it out after taking lunch. then afterwards, i prepared myself a piece of Krispy Kreme Donut and a good ol' cup of hot coffee. Then i told my sister to sit with me in the table and we had a nice chat. Its been quite some time since we did this sibling chat and it feels good that our "bonding" didn't catch "rust". Its as good as new. Fresh and warm.

this poem (i copy-pasted from friend's LJ) was originally written by an unknown author, who afterwards committed suicide:

Greatest Pain in Life

The greatest pain in life is not to die, but to be ignored.
To lose the person you love so much to another who doesn't care at all.
To have someone you care so about so much throw a party...
and not tell you about it.
When your favorite person on earth neglects to invite you to his graduation.
To have people think that you don't care.
The greatest pain in life,
is not to die, but to be forgotten.
To be left in the dust after another's great achievement.
To never get a call from a friend, just saying "hi".
When you show someone your innermost thoughts and they laugh in your face.
For friends to always be too busy to console you
when you need someone to lift your spirits.
When it seems like the only person who cares about you, is you.
Life is full of pain, but does it ever get better?
Will people ever care about each other,
and make time for those who are in need?
Each of us has a part to play in this great show we call life.
Each of us has a duty to mankind to tell our friends we love them.
If you do not care about your friends you will not be punished.

You will simply be ignored...
forgotten...
as you have done to others...

just got home from choir performance (for baptism) in Toronto. first time to perform in Toronto locale and their choir loft is bigger than that of Mississauga. But i think our choir loft in Mississauga is more elevated. Their Hammon organ is new, and it sounded so nice. I can barely hear our voices but my sister, who was seated on the first row told me that our voice volume is loud and fine. Anyway, the performance was graced by the Father and the whole occasion as well. Praises be unto him!

After the service, we proceeded to the reception area and socialized a bit (not really my stuff), and i have been hearing commendations with regards to my brother-in-law's performance as organist. Even our choir directress gave him a nice remark about his performance. Of course he's delighted with all the positive remarks, who will not be, anyway? But of course, all credits, praises and glory he bring all back to the Father!

Its Saturday tomorrow! yey!

SI SANTA CLAUS!

it's a whooping 12 degrees centigrade tonight and a trembling 7 degrees overnight later. this afternoon's temperature reads 16 degrees celsius and i'm already freezing cold outside. considering that the sun is up high, shining over the province. if i could only hug the sun at this moment, i would. even inside the basement, we can feel the cold air from outside. Fall season has officially started last 21st of this month and will end after three months to give way to winter. i have taken a video shot of the yellowing maple trees outside when i fetched my niece from the bus stop. its freakin' cold! and i was told that its still not the peak of the cold weather. i still have to prepare for a negative reading on the temperature scale. woh! ibalik nyo ko sa Manila!!!!

Its Thursday. Yesterday was quite an unusual day as i didn't surf the net so much as the past days. My internet activity includes yahoo mail, excite mail, PEx, blogger, inq7/philstar, and lately, friendster.

I'm just into this mood again... i wonder if things will happen. it bruises my heart knowing that what i want is far beyond my reach. maybe i should get back into my old self. i had been a happy clown for the past 5 years in my life and people i got to know since then find me awkward to be seen in a silent mood. heck! i am that guy! the serious one. the loner. won't speak until you talk to me. and i won't approach you until you approach me. i can live in solitude in my entire life!

i want you. but it can't be, well at least now. but who knows what will happen? nevertheless, i don't want to remain hoping. coz maybe i'm hoping for nothing. why does it have to be like this? does this have a purpose? everything that's happening now, does it have a purpose? i want to believe that there is. i have learned to believe in things. unexplainable things that can be understood only after they happen. now what? are you thinking something about me? the hell you're right! now what can i do? it will be your move first, not mine. can it happen? huh?

Just got home from the devotional prayer and as i browse the headlines in Manila, i see stories about Joey-Kris relationship (this issue got negative feedback in PEx's LAFI Forum), Philippine Peso rates P54.93 against the US Dollars (and to think the banner states that the Peso "strengthened"), PGMA's intention to run in 2004 (sabi na nga ba!), bar exam leakage (sheesh... when will we ever move on?).

What i'd like to tackle in this entry is this news:

B.F. offers self as V.P.
"Bayani Fernando, chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), announced his intention to seek nomination as the official vice presidential candidate of Lakas.

He disclosed his political plans at the forum at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, attended by former education secretary Raul Roco, a declared presidential candidate; MalacaƱang chief of staff Rigoberto Tiglao, Agriculture Secretary Luis Lorenzo and former interior secretary Alfredo Lim." - from abscbnnews.com

My comment

When Bayani Fernando showed what he is capable of as a local official, i believed in him since then. He miraculouslyimproved Marikina City to everyone's surprise and the City even topped the rest of Metro Manila's towns & cities as well. Then his term as the Mayor of Marikina has to come to an end. Because of his accomplishments (i believe), he was appointed as a cabinet member in the Arroyo administration as the Chief of the Metro Manila Development Authority, hoping to make the big metropolis as a "model" city in Luzon, if not the whole Philippines. He has made wonders. He is as brave as a knight battling in a war. In street terms, we can say that the man has "balls." Not withstanding the left & right protests, from street vendors to nature advocates (remember the trees along Katipunan?), and even all kinds of drivers in the highways. All of them developed "hatred" with BF's style. But the man stood his ground. He believed in his principles and carefully put into action his plans... for a limited time at that since the term of the government which gave him the seat is fast reaching its end and even with a few more months left, it is already busy in campaigning for its 'political life'.

BF is one public official i will always admire. He gets things done, as his slogan in Marikina states: "BF gets it done!" I always believe that he is a very effective law enforcer, hence the Chairmanship of MMDA is a good start for him. And i was hoping that he remains in the cabinet until his retiring age but i never wanted him in any electoral position. Not as Congressman, not as Senator, not even as the country's Vice President. What will he do there? Will the power he had over the years that he had practised as a local official be as effective when he seats in the National level?

Its like putting a cake in a cone, whereas the cone can serve better with an ice cream in it. Its simply sad.

Sunday
This day has always been a church day for me and yesterday was supposed to be my "off" from performing in the choir since we established the new choir groupings. But, the group which was scheduled to perform needs reinforcement for the tenor voice so i volunteered to perform. Good thing about it, it made me feel that my Sunday is complete. I'm not used to not going to church on a Sunday. And still later that afternoon, we performed in Robin's wedding. The duet numbers were pleasing and they sung the numbers differently compared to the piece that we used to sing in the Philippines. O Promise Me & Walk Hand In Hand were the songs i'm referring to.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

After the wedding performance, i proceeded to Noriel's place and Charlie cooked a satisfying pancit palabok. Sorry everyone. You didn't get to taste it. Ang sarap. You want a plate? Contact me and i'll tell Charlie. We'll give you a reasonable, friendly price.

We watched the music video taken in Central way back my college days. Wow. It really brought back a lot of memories. I think Charlie & i have been meeting during those times but we don't know each other yet. He, being in the Temple Choir, and i in the Glee Club. howell...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I'm getting a *bit* addicted to this friendster thingy... Ada invited me to join. Actually, i have seen a thread about this in PEx but i really didn't mind until last night. It's like an on-line friends networking. (JARY READ: ON-LINE FRIENDS NETWORKING).
In here you can find people in your past, long lost pals, who also registered in the website. Try it, its fun. But wait, i am not suggesting you to do this during office hours or else, you won't finish any of your work.

Ladies' Shopping
WARNING: The following entry may sound a little sexist although i'm always an advocate of gender equality. PEACE!

being the good brother that i am (ehem), i volunteered to accompany my sis to go shopping for her clothes that she'll be wearing in the wedding tomorrow. (No. She's not the bride. Only one of the guests.) Anyway, aside from her clothes, she also was scheduled to buy five different gifts for 5 kids who will be celebrating their birthdays. Shetterdness! Ayoko na yata dito. Pag naimbitahan ka, ibig sabihin, gastos! Ok. So after the GEM, we went to Square One (sa'n pa nga ba, eh panic buying na ito), and strolled there for almost three hours. Before reaching Square One, I asked sis what she had in mind for the kids. "Wala pa nga eh." huwaaat?! wala pang nasa isip?! it means we will be strolling around and around and around the mall to look for these things. Then she still has to decide. Ok... i expected this scenario since i have been accompanying my sister way back in Manila for her shopping rounds. I just forgot to bring my personal chair (guess what for).
I keep on telling her "Ayan ang ganda, shet! Ok yan..." just to finish things up. sheesh...
Then after the five gifts were bought, we proceeded to the longer one--- her search for her dress. after almost two hours of transferring from one boutique to another, she came up with a nice--- nothing. she wasn't able to buy anything. nope. nada. zip. "Bakit wala kang nabili?!", i asked. She replied, "Wala akong napili eh."
aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!

Fall fashion is in! I need to buy myself a coat in a few next days. People here say that Fall is the coldest season. Yup. Not winter. Because during Fall, wind chill is most common. Of course, anyone who reads this entry and has a more experienced living here can always Shout Out his/her objection. I still love Manila. I'm a warm-blooded lovable creature.

as of this writing, Toronto and nearby provinces are experiencing the (not-so-mighty) wrath of hurricane Isabel. Locally (i mean in Manila) known as a bagyo, i just can't feel its rain and wind here in the basement but a while ago i stepped out of the house to move the van from the parkway and its just like a typical tag-ulan in Manila. haayyy... i always associate everything with Manila. Really is my home.

and
(got this pattern from PauL JENSIE_G's writing in his blog)

I'm RANTING because:
1. I want a job!
2. Everytime my mom uses her prepaid long distance card, she has to ask me what numbers to dial. EVERYTIME.
3. I badly need my Social Insurance Number!
4. I have no money.
5. I want winter clothes.
6. The weather's getting to be freakin' cold!

I'm RAVING because:
1. She (e)mailed back! woohoo!
2. I get to perform on GEM
3. I get to perform on the wedding
4. I get to perform on baptism in Toronto
5. Its Saturday tomorrow!
6. Adobo ang ulam namin!

...there.

yesterday before going to church, i spent almost an hour inside my room combining on clothing colors and looking for a perfect combination of polo/coat/slacks/shoes that i can wear for the service. sheesh... i tried at least five combinations all disapproved by my sister. i'm such a lousy man when it comes to fashion. in local terms, masyado akong baduy manamit. just look at me how i dress up when i was in high school. eww... didn't realize it til i reached college in New Era. back in Manila, i don't decide on my clothes to wear. it has always been my bestfriend who chooses the right combinations for me. ghad! where's he when you need him?!

howell, last night i just settled for my favorite (fit) white polo short sleeves and a black lousy slacks partnered by my favorite black shoes. Now that's too neutral. Who's gonna say that it's baduy? haha!

(oh heavens! dear Rache (enchantress), if you happen to be lost here in my blog, kindly give me good lessons on this, madame?)

we didn't push through with Tim Hortons last night contrary to what i've posted. maybe, Charlie was too hungry to settle for a cup of coffee, so he treated Noriel & i at Harveys fastfood instead. Their burgers smelled good (i ordered a hotdog sandwich) and i've learned that they don't fry their burgers, they grill them. We had a long chat while we were eating, and even as we finished munching on our food, we stayed for approximately less than two hours in the place just by talking about memories and experiences back home in Manila, and new home here in Canada. Thanks for the treat, bud!
Then, we proceeded to their home just near Collegeway and we caught Ryan on TV being awarded as the first ever Canadian Idol (a star search patterned after The American Idol). Wait till you hear of "The Philippine Idol."

Coffee-ing Around

Noriel, Charlie & i will have a coffee session at Tim Hortons tonight after office hours. Passing time at coffee shops (usually after office or during afternoon breaks) used to be my favorite when i was still in Manlia. Bringing back memories, afternoon breaks will see me sipping hot chocolate at with good friend MarieL. Other night out with friends, usually after a group dinner, will see us at Starbucks Coffee but personally, i would prefer

this season, where wind chills will most probably take place, its sure best to warm up with a good ol' cup of coffee.

Comments story
I have found a blog-commenting link courtesy of prettygurltin's blog (hi, tin!) and thus giving birth to the comments section of my blog. I just have to find out how to change the "Shout Out" phrase since it doesn't suit my preference.

Tin, help!

I was awakened by my mom who told me that my aunt, uncle & cousins upstairs are about to leave for work so i have to move our van from the park way. As i stepped out of the house (from the basement where we stay, actually), i noticed a different atmosphere in the air. The sky is gloomy, air is not too cold, and the surroundings resemble a Manila-after-typhoon setting. I'm overjoyed as i pass by the maple trees, i noticed yellow leaves falling. It's fall season, laidies and gentlemen!

i expect cold air to breeze in the next few weeks.

Saturday, about 930AM, I was texting my college friend, Jejie, from Manila and having heard the bad news from him, he is still confined at the Ospital ng Maynila suffering from internal hemorrhage and his kidney is bleeding. I tried my best to reassure him that he'll get well soon as he confessed to me thru his text message that he is getting afraid everyday of the development of his illness. I couldn't do anything more but tell him to hold on and include him in my prayers. After 30 minutes of our text conversation, I proceeded to our locale and attended the locale-wide anointing of oil. This is a perfect time for me to pray not only for myself but for my good friend as well. he has not been attending church services lately because of his illness. May God heal him.

Ate Noli if you're reading this entry, Jeremaine Esguerra is confined in Ospital ng Maynila.

Just got home from Nenet's place and had a little gathering in there. Also, Ka Nestor arrived from a vacation in Manila. This means, our day-duty guarding at the chapel is over. The care taker's home!

i'm looking forward for a "brighter" week. i have passed my resume to a prospective employer and if our home phone rings anytime this week during office hours, well, i don't know. i'm not prepared for my "would-be-reaction" right now. i'm tired.

Family dined in Emperor Buffet for dinner at around 6pm today. Its a Chinese eat-all-you-can Retaurant and they serve quite a variety of dishes. Of course, Asian cuisine are on the buffet area and lots of deserts to choose from. A whooping $19.00CAD rate for every adult, i could invite friends from the PI in there when they get here. hehe... by that time, i suppose i already have a stable job. But at present, no-no... can't afford! its my bayaw's treat.

I was watching Stories From the Urban Legends the other day from a channel in Rogers Cable and they feature some Q&A portion in their program. One question (actually the answer) that really made my day was this:
"Does drinking water relieve one from the sufferings of a heart attack? Answer: NO. The best thing to do when a person is suffering from a heart attack is to call 911."

like, hello?!! It's synonymous to saying that the best thing to do for persons who have heart ailment is to live in the United States where there is Rescue 911. sheesh... now how does that sound?

two years ago... what could have been a start of the third world war... the world's eyes and ears were glued on the United States of America, all anticipating its next move against what could be considered as the most well-planned terrorists attack in years.

Innocent lives lost, world economy trembled, tears fell while for some, it is the best time to display their widest smiles...

Things had happened. We learn from history. Its time to move on. NO TO TERRORISM!

my mom & i had a small "talk fight" just this noon. its something about degrading comments and lack of self-motivation. i feel bad. i uttered some words at her which i never thought i could say, since she has high blood pressure. i even thought of using my open ticket back home to Manila and told her i had my life there, and it was she who forces me into going in this damn cold country!
afterwards, i hated everything i have done. i hated myself. i'm such an evil son.

i am missing the Philippines. sorry for me. i just read friend MarieL's LJ and she mentioned that Manila FM Stations are already playing x-mas songs. not that i'm into Christmas rituals but the spirit of the season is my most awaited time of every year. and this will be my first december out of Manila. Its not the same here. *sigh*

looking back last year, i was more happy to look forward going back to my home land. by this time, we're having fun touring the United States, particularly the recreational spots in LA and some landmarks in San Francisco. Then, its fly time going back to Manila. I must admit, the developments that transpired last year gave a big impact into my life. After i landed Manila again, i have changed my circle of friends from college friends to my now dear PEx friends. Everything happened so soon, so fast. i even planned to hamper my parents plans of letting me go back to Canada by applying for a job, which luckily i acquired after three weeks of landing back in my motherland. But then, even my good position in SUN Cellular wasn't able to stop it. Maybe its my fate.

I left Manila this year, but this time with a "lighter" feeling than last year. But now, I feel that everything is like a snail. Life here is fast-paced and i'm not into the flow yet. I'd like this time to pass. I want to see tomorrow.

I'm almost a candle lit up for hours... i need gas.

It take time for them to bloom;
But when fresh buds begin to smile,
They dispel the mist of gloom..."

i can't believe this. back in village east, it was i who ask the members if they are available to perform on any specific schedule when needed. here in Mississauga, its the other way around. and i can't believe i am the target of the choir leader to transfer schedule. i can't. its not like Cainta in here. in here, i don't have my own car. if ever there is a car, i'm not allowed to drive yet. no bus trips in our area as early as 430am. it will snow here. its freakin' cold. i just can't go out in the morning and walk carrying my clearbook. but then, thinking of the situation, i can't recall myself forcing any of my members to perform if he/she is really not available. the ones left must know how to adjust. and i believe nothing can go wrong with the performance, regardless of the number. anyway, performance of the duty is not measured by quantity but by quality. its how you prepare yourself for your performance before Him.

this day, i have forwarded the articles i need to a friend who's gonna help me with the employment thingy. then, i walked around the civic center and inquired about volunteer work in the library. unfortunately, they will offer volunteer work on January next year. so, i tried to contact a nearby school and inquired about volunteering in the kindergarten class. i have passed my application and if things turn bright for me, i'll be starting on October. lots of options in the volunteer work in school. i could watch over in the classrooms, or help on class events, or join the school trips, or take home some cut & paste jobs for the students. hmm... then noriel tried to offer me a newspaper job during mornings. problem is, i may not drive (aside from i don't have my own car), and its starting to get freakin' cold outside so i could not just use a bicycle like what newpaper delivery boys do in Manila. i'm also thinking of walking in to Tim Hortons and inquire for a part time job but i haven't gathered my guts yet. If ever i got a job in that coffee shop, pag-uwi ko sa Manila, mag-aapply ako sa Starbucks! LOL.

Seriously, i'm irritated with my situation now. It's because of the adjustment. I hate adjustments. Even my zodiac agrees with me. sheesh... And this is no ordinary adjustment. I have to start all over. From zero. Nothing. Scratch.

Now what keeps me going? My family, my church brethren, and most of all, my God. I'm just too glad they are all here with me. I'm looking at my future... and my future starts now.

can't everyone do their thing without boiling out their heads? sheesh...

"Batang Iglesia 'to," ang wika nya.

Small world, 'ika nga.

    weekend wrap-up
"TGIS" i should say, nothing has changed up to now, Saturday is still my favored day of the week. I've been longing for this day all week long coz i'm excited to perform in the Tagalog worship service. and my sister and husband don't have work on this day, so we get to be together at home all day 'til Sunday.
So, we went to the Chinese Store to buy some food that we're gonna 'cook' & eat for this long weekend. The Chinese store sells Philippine Products like Lucky Me! Pancit Canton and others that we can not buy in Food Basics or even No Frills. By that time of the day around 10am, dad text(ed) mom from Manila, just to inform everyone of us that he safely landed NAIA. Thank God for that. We are awaiting his return here on winter and most of all, we are excited on his 'conversion' into the fold when he comes back. We all pray for that. The next hours of the day, we just prepared for the evening service and so looked forward for another church day the next morning.
Sunday, first time here that i wore a necktie and the reason for it was our general officers meeting in the afternoon. wearing necktie hasn't been my practice ever since i was born. i recall, when i used to work in DIGITEL (not SUN Cellular), my supervisor handed me a box with four neckties. Sort of a "gift" she insisted but eventually she confessed that she wanted me to wear those ties during office days. That means i have to wear tucked-in long sleeves! i never wanted that. wearing tucked-in long sleeves makes me feel sooooo uncomfortable. i'd prefer wearing barong tagalog instead. but then, perspective changed here... it's a "regular" dress code, much more the cold weather here makes every guys wear these... urghh.. outfit. howell... sabi ng mga ka-mang-aawit ko, mukha daw akong driver ng TTC.
it's Kuya Lenner's birthday and as usual, we gathered into Ka Eric's abode. and of course, we ate (again), laugh our hearts out with chit chats, KTV and joke around. howell...

We just received a news from our cousin in Manila that our uncle Donald died. He is the 3rd son (of four boys) in my mom's side, and the second to pass away. My mom is currently talking with her elder sister confirming the matter and asking for other details. Good thing though, my uncle's faith he embraced well, before God took away the last of his breath.
