nakakatuwa si Bathala!

Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven, Bathala was missing for six days. Eventually, Jon* the Archangel found him, resting on the seventh day.

He inquired of Bathala, "Where have you been?" Bathala sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Jon. Look what I've made."

Archangel Jon looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied Bathala, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?" inquired Jon, still confused. Bathala explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, but cold and harsh while southern Europe is going to be poor but sunny and pleasant. I have made some lands abundant in water and other lands parched deserts. This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by Bathala's work, then pointed to a group of islands and said, "What are those?" "Ah," said Bathala. "That's the Philippines, the most
glorious place on earth. There are beautiful beaches, rivers, mountains and forests. The people from the Philippines are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achievers, and they will be known throughout the world as carriers of peace and love."

Jon gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, Bathala? You said there would be balance."

Bathala replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I put in the government."

*name of the Archangel was changed to protect the innocent. :p

taking a break

i had a long day at work today and it's funny to note that upon my arrival at the office this morning, one of my superiors uttered "ayan na ang ating hinihintay." well, i wasn't late. i timed-in 10 minutes before 0900 hrs and i was thinking they were already concerned about the papers that i have to fax and send through courier as early as possible within the day. with the big help of my partner who came from a medical check-up last weekend, we were able to get things done by lunch time. but my day isn't over. i still have to go all the way to Libis to cater to our "valued" clients (which i think it really sucks) needs. The "VIP" style of treatment. blech!
anyway, my boss was too kind to lend me his car going there so i took his car keys and drove his Toyota XL, which they acquired from our company last week. I am really not good in driving cars (per se), so i have to sit up straight on the drivers seat and watch carefully my front corners. After going to Mercury, i picked a friend up at PSE Tower where he works and we headed to Podium for a short hot drinks break. Kerwin and i talked about his plans of working in Canada and i was delighted to hear about it. Applying for a working VISA is much easier than applying for an immigrant VISA. and take note: he has a job offer! geez... i envy that guy. hehehe... so, i told him to grab the opportunity once his employer sent him a letter.

after coming back from the OB, i went to DKT office to have some papers signed. Didi, Mike & Anoy came along but the latter two headed straight to the bakery while Didi accompanied me to the office. Then afterwards, i dropped by Mini Stop to 'replenish' my stocks (in my drawer)--- i'm short with coffee sachets and some junk foods. hehehe. after a few minutes back in the office, we realized its already 6pm, which means, office hours is over.

My consolation for the day: I had my wmp playing all day as our 'big boss' is out of the country. i think its only me who's wmp library is stuffed. but then again, i play songs from 97.9 home radio thru its live feed from the net.

busy Friday

this should be. my partner is on leave again and so i have to take care of everything that needs to be done.

Anyway, after a long absence in the moviehouse, i was able to waste my money last night. i was planning to watch Shutter but since its showing time was 7:50pm, i decided to watch Monster-in-Law instead. And yes, i found SOME trailers more exciting than the featured film itself. i should have went home after i tried Jollibee's Super Meal 2 so i could have spared my hundred bucks for a more important thing. howell...

* * *

This morning, i was looking for an RRCG bus to ride on going to Ortigas. I wanted to prove that they haven't raised fare yet, unlike G-Liner, which increased fare since two days ago. And yes, i'm right. RRCG still offers a lower fare. And i'm happy for that. Then, a lady suddenly asked the bus conductor with an aggresive, inquiring tone: "Hindi pa kayo nagtataas? Yung G-liner nagtaas na nung kamakalawa pa ah!" In my mind i said, "what the fart???" she's one in every ten million commuters who'd say that. geez.

"excuse me po"

Panfilo Lacson, dating heneral!
Renato de Villa, dating heneral!
Fortunato Abad, dating heneral!

eh tayo dito, dati tayong anoooo????!"

>> kailangan kong makausap si karen bago ako umuwi ngayon.

tanghali

May dalawang araw pa bago mag-Biyernes.

mind stories

i feel my age is catching up with me as i begin to feel my serious side slowly swallowing up my personality again. Yes. again. I used to be the silent, serious, "matured", snobbish type of person since i was high school until college but everything was reversed when i began working. I suspect i got tired of being the "serious" one and shifted to being a jolly, happy and all smile person. but not totally. and now, i am loving my old self but at the same time, feeling a bit odd. i really can't explain what's going on, maybe its just that a lot of things have been happening and that unlike before, i have to "take charge" of the situations now.

oh well.

Music Baton

As passed to me by Frances Ivy, hear my mellow selection:

Total volume of music files in my computer:
80 items = 243.96MB (will still add some selections in a couple of days)

Last CD I bought:
OPM Acoustic Selection

Song playing right now:

Only Hope by Mandy Moore (i'm currently tuned in to 97.9 Home Radio)

This song reminds me of Keng and the movie A Walk To Remember.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

1. If You're Not The One (Daneil Bedingfield)
- Its lyrics say it all. This song was a current hit when Keng and i started going out. :)

"...and i wish you are the one i build my home with..."

2. Aubrey (Bread)
- this is my KTV signature song. hahaha!

"...But God I miss the girl,
And I'd go a thousand times around the world just to be
Closer to her than to me...
"

3. Torete (Moonstar88)
- a nice song that reminds me of my bday escapade at Island Cove with close friends

"...Wag kang mag-alala
"

4. She (Elvis Costello)
- an alternative song for "She's Always A Woman", giving high regard to femininity, this song is at its best especially when played as a soundtrack in one of my favorite movies: Notting Hill.

"...She
Who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry
She
May be the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows of the past
That I'll remember till the day I die...
"

=== and the song that completes the magic five is ===
*drum rolls*

5. The Reason (Hoobastank)
- the song i'm not getting tired of hearing these days for the following reasons:

^ first line right away depicts humility
^ the song tells that everyone is capable of changing for the better
^ melody & music accompaniment blends well, and,
^ there's much more reason to like the song...

"I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

and the reason is you
and the reason is you
and the reason is you

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you.
"

Five people I'm passing this to:
I hope the names listed below will take time to do their list and pass it on to five other people.

back to work, back to school. i'm not the one going back to school but classes officially start today for private institutions. Last week, public schools opened classes and traffic situation just worsen today.

i've been catching up with the controversy going on with the Arroyo administration and its amusing to note that Malacañang has been silent to the issue. hahaha... i can just imagine the people from Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) raising their eyebrows on a single press release issued by the palace (yesterday) that tackled about "poverty". I'm sure there are other press releases that came out later that day but who cares about them? MPC people are waiting for a press conference with the president, or at least, with her spokesman and talk about the recent issues about wiretapping and of course the never-ending jueteng story. :p

i'm 40 minutes early to work today and i think it feels good not rushing down the busy streets of the metropolis just to catch up on your time in. it makes me more relaxed and it gives me more time to prepare everything i need for todays work, and of course, it gives me time to update my blog. :teehee:

anyway, laters...

rainy days...

the skies always look gloomy. nimbus clouds are always present. streets are always wet. these are just some indications that rainy days are here. its this time that you always feel like just curling up on your bed and sleep it out the whole day. no kidding. well, at least, i admit it is how lazy i am whenever i am at home and it is raining. hehe.

anyway, i'm (one hour and ten minutes) early at work today and here i am attending to a maintenance person who's working on our new phone line. i'm currently listening to my WMP collection and the song I'd Rather is playing. and i'm blogging while sipping coffee. see? It's what you call multi-tasking.

my work partner Didi is on leave again today as she is to attend to her family. Her hubby & child is sick, so i wish them to get well soonest. So that means, i'll be representing our department all by myself later at our meeting with DKT. hmm... got to prepare.

* * *

<--- i got this car accessory flag from Kultura, a store selling Filipino "cultural" materials. It costs about 90pesos but i didn't care spending for it. I don't know why but it boosts my pride of being a Pinoy whenever i display something representing our country. And not only because the country's independence day is approaching. Being proud of your race is not an occasional 'thing' but it is supposed to be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year. But most significantly, its not a matter of just displaying things that represent your country. It's all in the heart, and more so, as the ol' Panatang Makabayan goes: "Sisikapin kong maging isang tunay na Pilipino sa isip, sa salita, at sa gawa."

cheering up on a "manic" monday

i got this text message from Lyn/Eva, just enough to cheer me up on a depressing monday:

gaano kabait ang Ama?

bago ka pa
humingi...

...ibinigay na Niya!

bago ka pa umiyak...

...niyakap ka na Niya!

higit sa lahat,
bago ka pa
kumapit sa Kaniya...

...inaabot ka na Niya!

God Bless.

Long Live Philippine Broadcast Journalism!

I'm saddened by the news that Radio-TV broadcaster Reyster Langit didn't survive Malaria and caused his death. These broadcasters, while some are uncommendable, are the dedicated ones in their duty--- to give their countrymen the knowledge on what has been happening to our society. They would give their lives covering for special stories, exposing government-related anomalies, and going to the lighter side of the business, covering special events on every town that enriches our cultural heritage.

Earlier, Arnold Tañare passed away with the same cause as Reyster's. Arnold was the cameraman covering the feature story that they were suppose to present for their TV Program.

For dedicated broadcast journalists and the crew behind every success news/feature stories: MABUHAY KAYONG LAHAT!
