"special day" ng kanyang bi-ef eh. andun sila... marahil. hayy... buhay.

i have watched American Wedding, the next sequel of American Pie. I found the movie hilarious as the first two films (although i didn't like American Pie 2 that much). No reviews on this post. I just liked it.

Its a silent morning... i just came home with my sister from our Thursday service. my brother-in-law isn't home yet from his night shift, my parents, nephew & niece are still in bed. i can't help but think about my appointment with the lawyer on Wednesday. i don't know what will happen, but i am always hoping for a good outcome. a choir member offered me a free seminar for a travel agency. he just told me to try it if i have nothing else to do. but i held every options for now. i want to know first the legal advise for me before i start looking for anything to work on. maybe a volunteer work, an odd job, or the seminar mentioned. i'm in a freezer 'til next week.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ i want to go out again today and watch American Wedding. But thinking that Woodbine Mall is a bit far from our place, i'd have to check the morning paper and look for a nearer cinema where i will ride only one bus route. Going to Woodbine will require me to transfer bus three times. howell...

i have just watched Jackie Chan's The Medallion at Square One. I'm not really impressed with this latest movie of Jackie. Its not his usual movies where he does all the stunts without the help of any "supernatural powers" granted to him by the medallion thingy. oh well. i guess he just explored on his usual movie routine. and as seen in the image, being 5 as the highest, i'll rate The Medallion (as Jackie Chan craves) --- a lousy 2 stars! Look. Jackie is happy.
Watching the film was just a fruit of a long rant for not watching a movie for almost a month. i have missed some films i have really waited (but i could always catch them on video) for the past few weeks. Among them: Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, & American Wedding. Last movie i watched before the Chan movie was Bend It Like Beckham, which i liked better than The Medallion.
I could still catch American Wedding in Woodbine Mall, and that is if i could go out tomorrow. i have to have a bus route map going to Toronto because i will only take the bus. i still have some money to spare for the movie. Then, i could hop into the next movie house where Finding Nemo is still showing. In here, you could always go movie hopping for a cost of just one movie ticket. Of course, i believe that people here do not regularly do it, but you have to take necessary precautions in doing the thing. i don't know if movie hopping here is illegal, but one thing is sure: one movie show equals one movie ticket.
so, i guess it settled the issue. but then, i still have to do a movie hopping to get my CAD$8.25 worth. bad aajao. "kaya ka nasasabihang kuripot eh." "aba! practicality lang yun, noh!"

the family had been to CNE yesterday. we didn't use up the credits in our tickets as the kids didn't want to try out most of the rides. i wonder if CNE can be compared with Manila's Enchanted Kingdom. Dad says that EK is an international fair standard. too bad i haven't been to EK in my life. sheesh.

i have set an appointment with the lawyer of Charlie and i'm set to meet him next Wednesday. i'm a bit nervous on this one. i hope everything will turn out good.
School, on the other hand, starts on the 2nd. A long weekend (for working peepz) will be enjoyed before school starts, as September 1st (monday) marks a holiday. Its Labor Day for Canada (and i think the US too). By then, my dad is already in Manila. Too bad. We have plans of driving out of town on that day but maybe, we will have other plans. I'll just wait and see.
As i have mentioned before, wind chill is starting to blow all over the country in preparation for the entrance of the next season... fall. Time for me to gather up winter clothes so i won't be bothered by the chill that the season will bring. ginawin pa naman ako. i need someone to warm me up. haha!

a rainy Tuesday, i am always awed by the 5-day weather forecast here. it is 99% accurate. when the weather forecast says that in three days it will be raining, indeed it will. better bring your umbrellas out.
Monday, i slept at around past 1am after the Sunday activities. last thing i had done was chat thru YM! with jary & christianne. it's been a long time.
morning saw me mowing our lawn. its a good chore to make me sweat under the sun. then by the afternoon, our family went to the amusement fair in Woodbine Mall in Toronto. We didn't push trough with our long drive because family members wanted more rest rather than being exhausted again from a long drive. anyway, i still have other chances to go to those places.
On our way home, we rented VHS tapes for the kids. Finding Nemo isn't available yet. pirated tapes are also not available here... well at least they are not vulgar, if ever there are.
I was supposed to go out and take a peep at planet Mars at around 10 last night, kaya lang maginaw sa labas at tinamad na ko. i just headed to my bed and dozed off.

a post-entry for Sunday, August 24, 2003
its way past midnight and its now Monday, eastern time. i'm not quite sleepy yet. i'm not worrying about our Montreal trip because it won't push through. family wanted to rest instead, after continously attending some gathering-invitations from anywhere courtesy of the brethren. well, i still have a lot of time for long trips anyway. we might just have a quality time with each other instead. and i think it is a better idea since my dad is scheduled to go back to Manila on Friday, August 29.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
dad has befriended ka lito, who always regard him as his "brother". funny because they got along well with each other right away. and dad has never gave into many invitations initiated by the "kapatids" before. only now, and when he knows that ka lito is looking for him everytime we gather into a brethren's place. i hope and pray that my dad gets to join us into the fold in the near future.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
i have talked to Charlie to accompany me to his lawyer by this week. but first, i have to make an appointment with the lawyer. also, i have asked Alice to assist me in looking for a job. i'm also considering to have volunteer works in the public library near our place. with lots of faith & hope, i look forward to a better tomorrow.
btw, Alice & Charlie are my co-chorister in Mississauga locale.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
early Sunday morning, i convinced my mom to jog with me even for just a few minutes in the neighborhood. as we opened the basement door, wind chill almost made us head back inside the house since the coldness in the atmosphere shook us up to our bones. as i look on the trees, green leaves are slowly turning yellow. these signs tell us that the summer is on its way to the exit, as the season fall is slowly making its early entrance.

Yesterday, we helped Jen, Chito & Judy move their stuffs to their new home.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
today's another Sunday. my sked will definitely concentrate on church activities. lunch and dinner will be in the house of the brethren, with invitations coming everyweek from everyone else, we always fail to be vacant during weekends. thanks to the brethren.
if not tonight, we will leave tomorrow at dawn for a long drive to Montreal, Canada, where French-speaking citizens nearly gather and reside.

i woke up early today and i have been updating my blog since an hour ago. i have added Piolo Pascual's song, Sana Ikaw here in my blog. The song which i first heard being sung by my best friend while we were riding a jeepney. Glancing upon its lyrics, it gives me memories. the feeling may seem so juvenile but it strucked me a lot.
I never liked Piolo as an actor. But his voice is another thing. I heard that Piolo was trained by my singing idol Ogie Alcacid and once i have mistaken that Piolo's version of Kailangan Kita was being sung by Ogie.

i'm seas far from my home land. at this time, i can't seem to leave my "life" there. i can go anywhere with my whole self. in here, i also can go anywhere but only with myself. a BIG difference lies within, and maybe, only i can understand. but then, i have to move on. as the song goes... "life is a constant change..."
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
CONSTANT CHANGE
Jose Mari Chan
We're on the road
We move from place to place
And oftentimes when I'm about to call it home
We'd have to move along
Life is a constant change...
The friends we know we meet along the way
Too soon the times we share form part of yesterday
'Cause life's a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no
Clouds that move across the skies
Are changing form before our very eyes
Why couldn't we keep time from movin' on?
Hold on to all the years before this moment's gone?
Why must we live the days at such a frightening pace?
We're all like clouds that move across the skies
And changing form before our very eyes
Have we outgrown our Peter Pans and wings?
We've simply grown too old for tales of knights and kings
'Cause life's a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no

its been a better day today than yesterday. early morning i had a nice chat with jorry and friend marieL thru YM! afterwich, my niece, nephew & i proceeded to the public library and spent some hours in there until before lunch. after lunch was quite a relaxing time, while i (again) splurge into the net, my niece & nephew went to sleep with their pop. right now, we just came home from fetching my sis in her workplace in Toronto. kids are playing upstairs and i have the PC (again) to myself.
tomorrow's gonna be a fast day until Sunday. mom & dad will arrive from a three-day vacation up north, they started in Scarborough then proceeded somewhere up north with my tita.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
i'm hoping to get a job early next month. any job (at this point) will do. i'm positively thinking that God won't leave me somewhere with nothing. i'm not expecting too much. all i hope & pray for are for things to run smoothly, so i could establish myself here just like when i was in Manila. i'm beginning to like it here. the church has a lot to contribute on this sudden switch of feeling. brethren here are the most supportive ones and quite generous at that. i can feel His guidance from "up" there thru our brethren here. these are few reasons why i'm excited to get a job and start my own living here. but for the meantime, i have to enjoy the rest of the days of this month. my dad's coming back to Manila on the 29th. after that, its work time!

i wonder how you are. i know you're happy with your son, and i suppose with your hubby, too. i just thought of you this morning and i can't help reminiscing the past. had i been ready those times, will you and i be together now? will things for me turn as it is now? i guess not. probably not.
the last picture i saw in you was a gloomy face, nearly teary eyes... your long, straight, black hair goes where the wind blows.
the last voice i heard from you was 18 months ago. you sounded happy and contented. that's good. your three-year old son didn't want to talk to me. probably wondering who am i. my heart was touched. sincerely. then memories of your 18th birthday came circling into my mind. until now i'm thinking if i should have attended that occasion. i felt that all your family members eyes and your guests eyes were all on me. i didn't react. i tried very hard not to. it was the first time i met him. your future husband. and i don't know what i was doing there. i didn't even eat. i flew right after i danced you your 13th rose. you even missed my favorite number by one. tsk, tsk...
oh well... those were the memories. the sad part of the memories. i'd love to recall our good times together but there will be no use. unless i can turn back the time... and i'll never let go of you from then.

A girl and a boy were on a motorcycle,
speeding through the night. They loved each other a lot..
Girl: "slow down a little.. I'm scared.."
Boy: "No, it's so fun.."
Girl: "please..it's so scary.."
Boy: "Then say that you love me.."
Girl: "Fine..I love you..can you slow down now?"
Boy: "Give me a big hug.."
The girl gave him a big hug.
Girl: "Now can you slow down?"
Boy: "Can you take off my helmet and put it on? It's
uncomfortable and
its bothering me while i drive."
The next day, there was a story in the newspaper. A
motorcycle had crashed into a building because its
brakes were broken. There were two people on the
motorcycle, of which one died, and the other had survived......
The guy knew that the brakes were broken. He didn't
want to let the girl know, because he knew
that the girl would have gotten scared.
Instead, he was told the last time that she loved him,
got a hug from her, put his helmet on her so that she can live, and
died himself...

You are an Elf!
In mainly Teutonic and Norse folklore, the elves
were originally the spirits of the dead who
brought fertility. Later they became
supernatural beings, shaped as humans, who are
either very beautiful (elves of light) or
extremely ugly (dark / black elves). They were
worshipped in trees, mountains and waterfalls.
The Danish elves are beautiful creatures, but
they have hollow backs. The Celtic elves are
the size of humans.
The belief in elves, or supernatural and invisible
beings, is almost universal. Apparently, there
has been no primitive tribe or race that has
not believed at one time or another that the
world was inhabited by invisible beings.
Especially on the British Isles the belief was
very profound. In stories from the 8th and 9th
century there are many references to elves, or
fairies as they are called there. The king of
the elves, Oberon, and his wife is Titania

its been an exhausting, but rather a fulfilling day for me. Sundays here in Mississauga has always been alotted for church and services were graced by the Father. sermon tackled about sorrows experienced in this world, and the patience to wait for the promised land as the Lord prepares a place for his servants in heaven. choir practice followed after lunch and a series of gathering-invitation saw us food tripping. time with the brethren hasn't been this good.

we have just done our groceries in a Chinese Supermarket somewhere in... Dundas(?) and i'm looking forward to have Filipino dishes in our plates for the next six meals at least. the thing that really made my day today is my dad's giving-in to our invitation for him to attend our bible study gathering this morning at 11. For the record, it is his 2nd time in attendance for a GEM. Praise be to God!

a little later, we will be going again to the church to perform in our Tagalog Worship Service. i'm a bit disappointed. my niece & nephew can't go to the mall with me. their mother didn't allow them since there still might be a scarcity on bus trips tonight, considering the power outage that haunted Northeastern America since yesterday. Anyway, i get to go to the mall a little later with Ana, a good friend of my sister & brother-in-law.
Speaking of Ana, her residence in Manila is in Palmera 1, Cainta, just near the place of my good buddy, Nick. Ana has been a good friend of my brother-in-law when they got to work in Kuwait a few years back, then she migrated to Canada a year before my sister and husband migrated last year. Ana gave them accommodations for the first four months and helped them start their life here in Toronto.
Ana arrived a while ago after lunch and stayed here for a while. We all thought that we will be meeting my sis in Square One but my sister has other plans.

electric power has just been restored here in Toronto as complete black out haunted Eastern America since yesterday afternoon at around 420pm. The Niagara power plant has given up after it was "overloaded", as what the authorities claimed, but fortunately, the power has now been restored.
Funny thing while i was monitoring news at my cassette recorder (with FM/AM bands), people here seems so disturbed about the black out, while way back in Manila, citizens are used to it. With the power outage here, i have learned a few things:
1. first thing that comes to people's minds: blackout = terrorists attack
2. only a very few establishments have diesel-powered generators
3. all AM stations tha managed to stay on-the-air talk about nothing but the black out issue
4. bus trips are delayed
5. domestic flights are cancelled
6. hotels stop accepting accommodations
7. water usage is limited: no car washing, no sprinklers, no pet bathing (and nearly, no bath taking)
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
as i post this, Ada is on her way to the Congo Grille Anniversary EB. She just replied to my text message as i was ranting about the past black out. I hope to see pics from the EB.

its past halfway through Thursday and i feel accomplished already. dawn saw me performing in the choir at the church and after almost six fast years, i again performed in an elevated choir loft. last time was when i was still listed in Brookside locale. oh. don't be deceived by the attachment. i just got it from google and definitely, i'm not there.
after the service, my mom, my sister, my brother-in-law and i sipped some hot drinks at Tim Hortons in Toronto, on our way to my sister's work place.
late morning saw me cooking my favorite ulam of all time. guess what???
net break... check emails... then i had to vacuum the entire basement. now, i just have to pass some time and update on my blog, and upload my pics to a new picture-hosting website. and i just found one! i'll post the link here later. :)
